SSL Cipher Check Start!!!
Introduction
In this article, I referred that there are several ciphers in SSL but I experienced only RSA. Then, I would like to be able to become that I can deal with other ciphers. But, the way creating SSL certificates I am familiar with is for RSA. I am trying organizing the way how to create SSL certificates per SSL ciphers. This is the first article about it.
Checking SSL ciphers with openssl
OpenSSL ciphers command shows SSL ciphers which are supported on that OpenSSL version. Here is an example.
# openssl ciphers -v ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 TLSv1.2 Kx=ECDH Au=RSA Enc=AESGCM(256) Mac=AEAD ECDHE-ECDSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 TLSv1.2 Kx=ECDH Au=ECDSA Enc=AESGCM(256) Mac=AEAD ECDHE-RSA-AES256-SHA384 The focus point I should be care is Kx and Au pair. The combination both of them are below.
# openssl ciphers -v | awk '{print $3 " " $4}' | sort | uniq Kx=DH Au=DSS Kx=DH Au=RSA Kx=ECDH Au=ECDSA Kx=ECDH Au=RSA Kx=ECDH/ECDSA Au=ECDH Kx=ECDH/RSA Au=ECDH Kx=PSK Au=PSK Kx=RSA Au=RSA Kx=SRP Au=DSS Kx=SRP Au=RSA Kx=SRP Au=SRP #
I have no idea about PSK and SRP, here is a result getting rid of SRP and PSK.
# openssl ciphers -v | awk '{print $3 " " $4}' | sort | uniq | grep -v 'SRP\|PSK' Kx=DH Au=DSS Kx=DH Au=RSA Kx=ECDH Au=ECDSA Kx=ECDH Au=RSA Kx=ECDH/ECDSA Au=ECDH Kx=ECDH/RSA Au=ECDH Kx=RSA Au=RSA #
I am going to write the article about that how to generate SSL certificates supporting above ciphers. I understand that there is no way to generate SSL certificates which are supported with all ciphers, so I have to write one by one.
